For the past two months, Kitty Doe's life has been a lie. Forced to impersonate the Prime Minister's niece, her frustration grows as her trust in her fake fiancé cracks, her real boyfriend is forbidden and the Blackcoats keep her in the dark more than ever.

But in the midst of discovering that her role in the Hart family may not be as coincidental as she thought, she's accused of treason and is forced to face her greatest fear: Elsewhere. A prison where no one can escape.

As one shocking revelation leads to the next, Kitty learns the hard way that she can trust no one, not even the people she thought were on her side. With her back against the wall, Kitty wants to believe she'll do whatever it takes to support the rebellion she believes in—but is she prepared to pay the ultimate price?

Pawn (The Blackcoat Rebellion, #1) Captive (The Blackcoat Rebellion, #2)

Hi Aimée, I'm thrilled to have you here today on Addicted Readers!

ALICIA: 1.) Can you tell us how the idea for THE BLACKCOAT REBELLION series was created, and did it turn out to be what you planned on, or did it change a lot from your initial idea?

AIMEE: - I wrote the first draft of PAWN in 2008, so a lot has definitely changed in the years since. Much of the idea came from the contentious election cycle that year and some of the political research I did as a result. As far as whether or not it’s what I planned on, it is very, very different, but I’m much happier with how the first two books turned out – and I’m still working on the third, so I’m excited to see how Kitty’s story ends.

ALICIA: 2.) What was the most challenging, and the most enjoyable aspect of writing CAPTIVE, and why?

AIMEE: - CAPTIVE was the hardest book I’ve ever written. As I mentioned, I wrote PAWN in 2008, so there was a lot of time between the two, and mentally I wasn’t prepared to go back into the world of PAWN. It was a struggle to even get a few words on the page. Ultimately I love how the story turned out, and some of the new characters you meet are my favorite in the series.

ALICIA: 3.) Can you tell us five random things about you?

AIMEE: - I only eat the pink Starbursts.

- I can play the guitar very, very badly.

- I have naturally curly hair but straighten it every day.

- I like cafes, but hate coffee.

- My favorite animals are fennec foxes (and wolves, and peacocks).

ALICIA: 4.) Do you have anymore awesome books planned for after THE BLACKCOAT REBELLION series is over? If so, can you share a little bit about it with us?

AIMEE: - I do! I have a new middle grade series coming from Bloomsbury US/UK that I’m really excited about. The first book, SIMON THORN AND THE WOLF’S DEN, will be out in August 2015. It’s about a bullied twelve-year-old boy in New York City who can talk to animals, and he learns he’s part of a secret world of people born with the ability to turn into animals. It’s also why my new favorite question is, “If you could turn into any animal, which would you choose and why?” (For me, I’d probably want to be a bird or a wolf.)

ALICIA: 5.) If you could describe CAPTIVE in 10 words, what would they be?

AIMEE: - Cheating and going for 11: “Better to die on your feet than live on your knees.”

Aimée, thanks for taking the time out to stop by, I had a blast chating with you and look forward to reading CAPTIVE asap!
