Teaser Tuesday #52: Extraction By Stephanie Diaz

Teaser Tuesday
is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB @ Should Be Reading, where you share one to two teasers from your current book. Sound like something your interested in?

Then do the following:
  • Grab your current read. Open to a random page
Share 2 "Teaser" Sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!
  • Share the author & Title too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like your Teaser!

Hey Guys,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend?

Mine was wonderful! We had beautiful weather here in Baltimore Maryland, and I spent the whole weekend outside, relishing in the sun and cool breeze, oh, and screaming kids...lol! ;) So check out this weeks TT and let me know what you think in the comment section. Be sure to link me up to your TT or weekly memo so I can come visit you!

Here's My #52nd Teaser Tuesday From EXTRACTION!

(Extraction #1)
Published: July 22nd, 2014
Genres: YA, Dystopian, Sci-f

"Welcome to Extraction testing."

Clementine has spent her whole life preparing for her sixteenth birthday, when she’ll be tested for Extraction in the hopes of being sent from the planet Kiel’s toxic Surface to the much safer Core, where people live without fear or starvation. When she proves Promising enough to be “Extracted,” she must leave without Logan, the boy she loves. Torn apart from her only sense of family, Clem promises to come back and save him from brutal Surface life.

What she finds initially in the Core is a utopia compared to the Surface—it’s free of hard labor, gun-wielding officials, and the moon's lethal acid. But life is anything but safe, and Clementine learns that the planet's leaders are planning to exterminate Surface dwellers—and that means Logan, too.

Trapped by the steel walls of the underground and the lies that keep her safe, Clementine must find a way to escape and rescue Logan and the rest of the planet. But the planet leaders don't want her running—they want her subdued.

With urgent writing, fluid dialogue, and a cast of unforgettable characters, Extraction is a page-turning, gripping read, sure to entertain lovers of Hunger Games and Ender's Game and leave them breathless for more.

Chapter 3: Page 31

My eyes flit again to the handcuffed children,  to the smoke streaming across their faces. They're all older then me, and taller. One or two might be crying. But most don't look frightened. They hold their heads high and bite back their screams when the warden snap whips at their ankles.

 Chapter 34: Page 328 & 329

"What do you want to say, Clementine?" Dr. Tennant says.

"Stop hurting him!" I wrench against the guards, but they hold me tightly, twisting my arms behind my back. I feel them clamp irons around my wrists.

"Up the amps," Dr. Tennant says.
