Reluctant Concubine (Hardstorm Saga, #1) Accidental Sorceress (Hardstorm Saga Book 2)

RELUCTANT CONCUBINE was a fantastic and thrilling YA fantasy, that takes us through a heartless world where woman are no more then means of entertainment and sickening pleasure, while the Warlords wait for the upcoming war that's evidently coming.

Filled with tons of action and adventure, RELUCTANT CONCUBINE was never a dull moment. I was always curious as to what was coming next, and how our main characters would handle the next challenging situation that was sure to arise. And trust me, they were fun, and engaging, and fully developed, and kept me craving more of this fascinating world long after it was over!

I absolutely adored this book and all the fun surprises it entailed. The world-building was addicting and beyond satisfying. Even though The whole kingdoms at war and women being used and abused is not nothing new, but the other fun surprises about the ancient guardians and the kind sexy Highlord was a fun surprise, and an interesting avenue for Marton to take. I never read anything about Concubines and pleasure halls. I mean I read similar comparisons, but nothing so blatant as that. I found it sickening but still intriguing to read. And loved how the main character was able to build strength while going through the mistreatment of her sexuality. And respected the women she became by the end!

Thought after as a powerful healer like her mother once was, Tera is kidnapped and sold into slavery and taken to a vicious realm at the hands of her indifferent father, that never really wanted her. Being sold into the very same realm her mother died in, Tera is determined to take it in stride and uncover the mysterious secrets behind her mothers death. All while trying to stay out of pleasure hall and her Warlords bed long enough to stay alive and escape this madness she's been thrust upon. . .

But Tera gets more then she anticipated as war closes in, and failure is becoming more and more evident. Tera only wishes to escape the brutally of her fellow Maidens and power-hungry Concubines, and reveal the truth behind her mothers death, while hoping to find her way back home where all makes sense, and women are not used and abused. But when the High Lord comes to her Warlords estate, he's given the opportunity to claim her as his own. But Tera clearly thinks him to good to want her, but to her horror, that's exactly what he wants.

Now the property of the High Lord, and anticipating him being just as vile and ignorant as his brother, Tera is more desperate and eager to escape her prison before all is lost to her. But after a horrifying night turns worse, Tera makes her escape and stumbles upon ancient Guardians that may just be their last hope for survival...

Overall, I'm happy to say that RELUCTANT CONCUBINE was way more then I bargained for, and never left me bored or craving something new. I'm curious as to where this story will go next, and what new adventure await these characters in book two, ACCIDENTAL SORCERESS. If you enjoy a good fantasy novel with an alluring romance, and a thrilling plot with a solid world-building, then RELUCTANT CONCUBINE is one book you don't want to miss!!

  5. From the cover alone, I didn't think that this was a YA. So, until I checked out your review I didn't have a clue what it was about. Now, I think I might like to check it out. It sounds like it could be a pretty good read!
