Chantress Fury #3
The sea is coming. We are coming. And we will drown you all.
With a song, Lucy can control the wind and the water; she can bring castles and kingdoms to their feet. Since Lucy mastered her powers, King Henry has kept her close as he’s rebuilt England. She’s his best ally—and his workhorse. And now he’s called her to investigate attempted murder: His men claim they were almost killed on the Thames…by a mermaid. All Lucy can glean from the creature they’ve captured is a warning: The sea is coming. We are coming. And we will drown you all.
And then the floods begin. Swaths of London are submerged as the people scramble to defend themselves against the water—and the monsters—that are flooding their streets. As mistrust of Lucy's magic grows, the king relies on Nat, Lucy's great love, to guide them through the storm. But Nat is cold and distant to Lucy. He swore his love only a year before, and now he calls her “stranger.”
Lucy is determined to defeat this powerful new magic alone if she must. But then she hears an eerie song within the water…can it mean that she’s not the last Chantress after all?
Sweepingly romantic and crackling with magic, Chantress Fury triumphantly concludes the powerful Chantress trilogy.
ALICIA: Hi Amy, I'm honored to have you here today on Addicted Readers! :)
AMY: Thanks so much for having me here!
ALICIA: 1.) Can you tell us where the inspiration came for the CHANTRESS TRILOGY, and do you think the series turned out to be what you planned on, or did it change from what you initially mapped out for it?
AMY: I love music and adventure and magic, and I’m fascinated by the 1600s, a time when even scientists believed in magic. I wanted to re-imagine that world, and make the magic real – and give it to someone society would underestimate: a girl still in her teens. That was the core of the idea, but it wasn’t until I was halfway through writing the first book that I realized it might be a trilogy. Even though I had a rough idea what those books would be, there have been real surprises in every book. For me, that was a big part of the pleasure of writing them.
ALICIA: 2.) What was the most challenging, and the most enjoyable aspect of writing CHANTRESS FURY, and why?
AMY: The hardest part was writing to a very tight deadline. The best part was being able to spend time with these characters again, and to push them to their limits.
ALICIA: 3.) Can you tell us five random things about you?
AMY: I’m a dual citizen – US and UK.
I once served as crew on a schooner for two weeks (and was first up to the crow’s nest!)
I’m left-handed and right-footed.
I love baking and inventing new recipes. (The latest: Gluten free oatmeal-almond chocolate chip cookies. Which vanished in about 5 minutes.)
I’m not a bracelet fan but I love earrings.
ALICIA: 4.) If you could describe CHANTRESS FURY in 15 words or less, what would they be?
AMY: Amid floods, a spell-singing Chantress battles devious mermaids, sea monsters, & her own heart.
ALICIA: 5.) Who was your most favorite character in CHANTRESS FURY, and why?
AMY: My favorite new character in this book is a very odd character indeed, one who offers Lucy safety at a crucial moment – but who just might be a big threat. I can’t say more, or I’ll give too much away!
ALICIA: Amy, thank you so much for stopping by and chatting with us today, and I'm soooo excited to see what you come up with next! :)
