The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.

Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.

Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.

Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1) This Night So Dark (Starbound, #1.5) This Shattered World (Starbound, #2)

THIS SHATTERED WORLD was breathtakingly epic!! With it's fierce and determined characters, a plot that kept thickening, equally blended with a romance fighting to survive against the odds!! It is a sequel NOT to be missed!!

But to be honest, I thought I was going to have issues getting back into this world because of the POV change. Because I LOVED the first book, THESE BROKEN STARS and fell hard for the main characters Lialic and Tarver, and was devastated when I found out that this book was going to be set in the same world, but in two different main characters POV, but with similar struggles as the first book. I was even tempted to pass it up just for that reason alone. But of course I couldn't, and let me tell you, I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T!!! Because THIS SHATTERED WORLD was AMAZING!!! So utterly, breathtakingly, amazing, in almost every possible way!!

THE PLOT

The planet of Avon is at war. The rebels want peace, equality, they want change. They want their planet terraformed like their suppose to be working towards. They're tired of having to hide from the soldiers, tired of not having a say in their planets growth and functioning, tired of having to steal food and other necessities, tired of not having options—freedom, and their getting itchy. It will only take a spark to ignite the flame that sparks the revolution that turns the tides of this war...

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met...

Jubilee Chase, now known as Captain Lee, is as loyal, fierce, and kickbutt as they come! She has a past that has made sure of that. She was sent to Avon like everyone else to crush the rebellion. But for her, it's more personal then anything, and she will do everything in her power to end the rebellion and instill peace back to Avon once and for all. That is until the famously known Flynn Cormac walks in her life and changes everything she once thought...

Flynn Cormac, the brother of the former leader of the rebellion, is now the new Leader and trying to steer his people in a different direction then his sister did before she was executed for leading the rebellion. He is desperate to show his people that the violence the rebellion thrived on all those years ago, didn't end well for any of them, and now it is time to try a different way, without violence.

But for Flynn to end the war, he must get the Intel he needs to instill the peace his people so desperately need. So doing the only thing he knows to get the answers he needs, he infiltrates the barracks as a guard, and finds something better then corrupt Intel, he finds Jubilee, and does the only thing he can to get himself out of the situation he's got himself in, he takes her hostage...

Love, War, and Death, will paint the way when these two worlds collide, and sparks ignite the path to their uncertainty, but with a rebel and a solider, they've defeated the odds already, now they need to unite the two worlds as one, and seize control, before the corruption seizes them first...

Lee and Flynn will have to face the unthinkable to end their war and save both sides. But they are only two against thousands, how can they defeat them odds and make them all see reason? How can they stop the senseless blood from being shed, how can they stop the hold the enemy has on them, before it's all too late...

THIS SHATTERED WORLD was a fantastic read that I absolutely LOVED!!! It took my breath away and kept my heart-pounding until the very end. I am eager to see where Kaufman & Spooner take us next and what awesome characters and adventures will be introduced to. I know whatever they create is going to be just as awesome as the first, if not better, if that's even possible!

Overall, if your looking for a read that will surely satisfy, with plenty of action, adventure, drama, betrayal, war and love, then THIS SHATTERED WORLD is for you. Because it left me utterly satisfied and definitely craving the next book!

BRING IT KAUFMAN & SPOONER,

I'M READY!!

NOTE: I received a physical ARC from Disney Hyperion for reviewing purposes! All opinions express are my own, and are not influenced in any way!

  10. I've heard great things about this series and I can't wait to read it. I actually like it when a book is set in the same world as its companion but has different character's POVs, I think it's a fresh take on the world.
