Dead Girl Walking (Royal Reaper #1)

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17883441-the-forever-song
In 1346, Princess Ophelia Dacre sneaks out of the castle to visit her boyfriend in secret. A perfect night cut short when she’s brutally murdered.

Ophelia is given the rare chance to become a grim reaper. She must become Leila Bele, cut ties with her old life, and follow the rules of the reapers. Her greatest adventure begins with death.

“Forget everything you know about grim reapers, Ophelia. Humans have it wrong. It’s easier to believe in angels and demons, than to see what’s right in front of you. Who wants to believe the undead walk among us with beating hearts? It would frighten humans. It would probably send many to their graves faster,” Edon said.

I am SO excited for UNMARKED! I read the first book UNBREAKABLE last year, and LOVED IT! I've never really been into paranormal, spooky ghost hunting, and stuff like that. And love it I did!

UNMARKED doesn't release until October of 2014, and I really need it NOW!!!

Blood Magic By T.G. Ayer Book Blitz + Giveaway

Blood Magic

 Blood Magic
T.G. Ayer
(Soul Tracker #1)
Genre: YA, Urban Fantasy
Publication: April 28th, 2014

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21964532-blood-magic

My name is Mel Morgan and I'm a Tracker. I find people for a living. The people I help have no idea I know exactly how they feel because I've lost someone too. If only I could have found the one person I've been looking for all these years.

My current case is no ordinary abduction. Before long I'm neck deep in blood magic - the worst kind. I need the help of a necromancer if I'm to free the kid. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

When sexy djinn Saleem asks for help things get a little hot to handle. But how can I say no? Dodging demons and sorcerers are just part of my day job.

Missing people can be found. Not all missing people are found.

I was good, maybe even the best I knew of. I find people for a living. My business is dependent on people losing people. The idea didn't sit so well with me but it was what it was. Not that I needed to find people for a living. I could very well choose to find things. Finding cutting edge nuclear warheads stolen from the government, locating lists of undercover cops within drug cartels – I can do that. Do the job, find the target, no questions asked. But things held no interest for me. People did.

I find people. And I didn't play to lose.

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes... I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It's a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves - it works wonderfully...

.

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands - I shall forever remain crosseyed.

Chantress Alchemy By Amy Butler Greenfield Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop in the CHANTRESS ALCHEMY Blog Tour hosted by The Fantastic Flying Book Club. Today we have my review of CHANTRESS ALCHEMY & a awesome Tour-Wide Giveaway!

Chantress Alchemy

Chantress Alchemy
(Chantress Trilogy #2)
Amy Butler Greenfield
Published: May 6th, 2014

Genres: YA, Fantasy, Historical

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18307001-chantress-alchemy?ac=1
Since defeating Lord Scargrave with her music, Lucy, the last Chantress, has lived by the sea, mastering the intricacies of Wild Magic. But now her quiet life is about to end: the wheat crop has failed, the people are rebelling, and Lucy is called urgently back to King Henry IX’s court. There she finds the Inner Council planning to save England by making gold through alchemy. But the golden crucible — the critical element in the alchemical process — has been stolen, its guards murdered. Lucy is charged with finding the traitor behind the attack.

Meanwhile, enemies old and new are gathering. Scargrave's brutal Chantress-hunter has become King Henry's closest advisor. Lucy’s beloved Nat has fallen out of favor and is shunned by his colleagues; their romance means trouble for both of them. Worst of all, something goes wrong with Lucy’s magic. The palace is a labyrinth, and there’s a monster at its heart — a monster who may have the power to defeat Lucy once and for all.

Amy Butler Greenfield returns to the beguiling world of Chantress for a suspenseful tale of courtly intrigue, music, and magic in Chantress Alchemy.

CHANTRESS ALCHEMY was beautifully crafted, and utterly amazing! I was so pleased with this book on many angles.

Amy Butler Greenfield brings a breath of fresh air with this brilliantly original historical high fantasy world, of music, magic, power, deceit, lies, and a swoon-worthy romance that is sure to leave you craving more!

THE PLOT...

Lucy is the last Chantress left, and with that comes a heavy burden she must bear in order to grace the world with her magic through her singing.

It's been almost a year since Lucy battled and defeated Lord Scargrave. Lucy thought the worst was over. But how wrong she was, it was just the beginning!

Lucy has been filling her days with becoming one with her magic. Trying to understand the full depth in which her magic flows, when she gets the disturbing news. England has fallen under chaos and despair. Problems are arising around every turn. The king and the council has ideas on how to fix their ongoing problems in England. Their plan is to create gold from The Philosopher's Stone and the Gold Crucible. But just when they thought it couldn't get any worse, they realize the unthinkable, the crucible has been stolen, and Lucy is the only one that can get it back.

Lucy once again is need to use her magic. She is charged with locating the Crucible and discovering who was behind it. But as Lucy sets out to uncover the truth, she discovers that secrets and lies are around every corner, and not everything or everyone is as it seems!! Their is a darkness waiting, lurking, and ultimately ready to strike, and Lucy might of just met her match!

CHANTRESS ALCHEMY was an amazing second book. It did not in any way suffer from "The middle book syndrome" one bit. This book had me second guessing most, if not all of the twist, and the action and adventure kept me on my toes, While falling in love with the romance once again.

If you've read CHANTRESS, then you definitely need to read this book, because I have feeling you will NOT be disappointment. And if you haven't read CHANTRESS, then wow, you are SOOO missing out on an EPIC series!!

NOTE: I received an eARC from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced in any way!
