Chasing Desire By Jennifer Domenico Cover Reveal + Giveaway

Release: June 9, 2014
Contemporary Romance {Adult}

High on life and all its luxuries, Brayden James has no intention of slowing down. That is until his womanizing ways catch up with him and he gets a much needed wake-up call. Just as he decides to clean up his act, the ultimate temptation enters his life.

When Mackenzie Reed meets Brayden, the attraction is instant and she knows that together they could achieve the kind of career success she’s always craved. But Mackenzie isn’t like most women. She has very good reasons for keeping her heart locked up tight. For her, this isn’t about love. This is about power.

Sparks fly as Brayden and Mackenzie try to avoid the one thing neither of them wanted. Each must choose between the life they’ve worked hard to achieve and the one they never imagined. Will they come to the same decision before it’s too late? Or will a hidden threat keep them apart?

Jennifer Domenico

Jennifer Domenico started writing as a five-year old child in the back of her mother’s bible in church. It was a way to keep the fidgety child quiet but even then she took simple stories and twisted them into even more imaginative tales. As she grew, the stories grew with her and she filled notebook after notebook with her musings.

As an adult, she knew she wanted to be a writer but she lacked the attention span and inspiration required to produce a full length story. Eventually she put away her notebooks and turned her attention to the business world where she toiled away for many years.

She stopped reading fiction, stopped entertaining her outlandish imagination, and stopped dreaming of being a writer. Until one day, many months ago she went to sleep and a beautiful love story played out in her dreams.

When she awoke she felt compelled to write it down. And she wrote and she wrote, for days and days she wrote. The result is part one of Enzo and Ava’s story. Turn Towards the Sun is her first, but certainly not her last, novel.

Ms. Domenico lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her very Italian husband, a dog that adores her, two cats that tolerate her, and wicked sweet tooth. She is currently working on part two in the series.

The Sowing By K. Makansi Blog Tour, Review + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop in the THE SOWING Blog Tour hosted by Giselle @ Xpresso Book Tours. Today we have my review of THE SOWING & great Tour-Wide Giveaway too!

The Sowing
The Famine may be over, but the Resistance has just begun.

When Remy Alexander is fifteen, her older sister is murdered in a cold-blooded classroom massacre. When the Okarian Sector hides the truth behind the attack, Remy's family goes underground to join the clandestine and growing Resistance movement. Now, three years later, Remy is beginning to find clues about why her sister was murdered. But at the same time, Valerian Orlean, the boy Remy once loved, is put in charge of hunting and destroying the Resistance. As Vale fights to protect his people and Remy seeks justice for her sister, the two are set on a collision course that could bring everyone together - or tear everything apart.

THE SOWING, the first book in The SEEDS Trilogy, is set in a post-apocalyptic world. In the wake of environmental destruction and a devastating population crash, the Okarian Sector was forced to fight to establish a civil society in a chaotic world. After the loss of seed biodiversity in the destruction of the Old World, genetic modification and artificial agricultural techniques are the Sector’s only choice. Science reigns supreme. The Okarian Agricultural Consortium, a corporation dedicated to perfecting these modified seeds and providing only the best food and medicine to its citizens, becomes the government’s most important arm. But even the purest gold is tarnished over time, and the Sector’s noble goals devolve into manipulation, control, and oppression.

THE SOWING was a fast-paced, action-packed dystopian book that had me on the edge of my seat! When it comes to dystopian books, I don't know what it is, but if it's well written and action-packed like this one was, I crave them and need more of their thrilling adventure! And THE SOWING was way better then I thought it would be, and I'm so glad that I gave it a shot!!

I was really surprised when I found out that this book was written by 3 different authors! A mother and 2 daughter team did a fantastic job at forming the same voice and rounding it out enough to make the reader think their reading one author! 3 brilliant ladies that I will for sure read again, and again!!!

After 15 year old Remy's older sister Tai is murdered in a classroom massacre, her and her family leave the The Okarian Sector and go underground to join the Resistance!

Fast forward 3 years:

Remy, now 18 and living underground in the resistance, is ready for answers to why and who was behind her sisters murder. And she intends to get them!

Vale, the other POV is chancellors son, and is fighting to end the Resistance. But everything gets complicated when Remy, one of the members of the Resistance who he is suppose to be hunting down comes back into his life, and all his buried feelings come rushing back!

Remy will fight for answers and justice for her sister, and Vale will fight for his people and what he believes in. But when Remy and Vale's world collide, it will test the boundaries of loyalties, honesty and just how far love will take a person!

I really enjoyed this first book in THE SEEDS Trilogy, and can't wait to dive back into Remy and Val's story!!

I received an ARC for reviewing purposes! All opinions express are my own, and are not influenced in any way!

K. MakansiK. Makansi is the pen name for the writing triumvirate consisting of Amira, Elena, and Kristina Makansi. Two sisters and their mother, the three women developed a passionate interest in science fiction as a way to write about issues of food sovereignty and food justice. Elena is pursuing a degree in environmental studies at Oberlin College in Ohio, and will graduate in May of 2014. Amira was a history student at the University of Chicago whose day job working in the cellar of a winery (and constantly being splattered with wine) keeps her busy when she’s not writing. And Kristy owns and operates Blank Slate Press, an independent publishing company based out of St. Louis, and is a partner at Treehouse Publishing Group, a company providing editorial and design services to aspiring authors. When not writing or reading, the three can be found having animated discussions around the dinner table, sharing a good bottle of wine, or taking long walks in the park eagerly plotting out their next book.

She meets her match when she finds a gorgeous alien man aboard the arachnid ship. Captured after a failed attempt to save his people, his spirit is broken, craving only vengeance. Other books in the series:

Colonization, book #1

Reconnaissance, book #2

Chapter One
The scar burned between my breasts. Would I ever feel whole again? I smoothed my fingers over the fabric of my uniform, where the sunburst blossomed red and pink on my skin. My other hand traced the exotic, inky patterns on the alien man’s face lying on the examination bed beside me. Only he could understand my pain. We’d both been cocooned on that wretched alien ship, waiting to die.

“Lyra, you have to leave him. The ceremony’s in twenty minutes.” Tauren stood with his arms crossed over his broad chest. A forehead worthy of an Old Earth cave man hung over his little, beady eyes as he stared with suspicion. “Don’t you want your medal?”

Behind me, monitors beeped with a steady, abnormally slow heart rate. A line fluctuating on a graph showed unprecedented brain activity. My ward dreamed. What of, I wasn’t sure: star systems I’d never seen, or maybe his home planet. My fingers traced his shimmery golden skin, soft and smooth except for the calluses on the underside of his palm and the hard ripped abs underneath the sheets--not that I’d peeked. For an alien, he looked more like a demigod or one of those statues of roman warriors from Old Earth.

I brushed back a strand of cobalt hair from his eyes and tucked in the bed sheets. “I don’t care about medals.”

Tauren lurched toward me and grabbed my wrist like I was his toy kite that had drifted too far on the wind. His fingernails dug into my skin. “What do you care about?” His voice was hoarse, his smudge-brown eyes desperate.

My thoughts wandered to the alien man. I hadn’t even spoken to him or learned his name. When I first saw him, wrapped in the arachnids’ cocoon aboard their metallic ship, my emotions ignited. Far from his home, he lay in stasis, trapped until the arachnids drained his body of life. I’d been in the same position until Nova saved me.

I had to save him.

Aubrie grew up watching the original Star Wars movies over and over again until she could recite and reenact every single scene in her backyard. She also loved The Goonies, Star Trek the Next Generation-favorite character was Data by far-, and Indiana Jones. But, her all time favorite movie was The Last Unicorn. She still wonders why the unicorn decided to change back to a unicorn in the end.

Aubrie wrote in her junior high yearbook that she wanted to be "A concert flutist" when she grew up. When she made that happen, she decided one career was not enough and embarked as a fantasy, sci-f author. Two careers seems to keep her busy. For now.
