There comes a time in every witch’s life when she must choose her path. Darlena’s friends have already chosen, so why is it so hard for her to make up her mind? Now, Darlena is out of time. Under pressure from Hecate, the Queen of all witches, Darlena makes a rash decision to choose Red magic, a path no witch in her right mind would dare take. As a Red witch, she will be responsible for chaos and mayhem, drawing her deep into darkness. Will the power of Red magic prove too much for Darlena, or will she learn to control it before it’s too late?

All About Darlena

Thanks so much for hosting me today! I’m so excited to talk about Darlena, the main character in DAUGHTER OF CHAOS. As a writer, I love all my characters, but Darlena is particularly special to me. She was fully-formed (flaws and all) almost as soon as I started writing this story, and the more time I spend in her head, the more I adore her.

So, let’s see, where to begin. When the book starts, Darlena’s a sixteen-year-old witch. She isn’t afraid of breaking the rules, and little acts of defiance give her a rush. Despite the fact that both her parents practice Green magic, Darlena’s never been pulled to their path, but she doesn’t much care for White or Black magic, the other paths taught at her exclusive magical school. Almost as a joke, she swears to practice Red magic, setting a chain of chaotic events into action that tests her strength and breaks her heart.

Darlena’s more than a little bit impulsive, and her fiery, passionate personality make it hard for her to let go of her attachment to her ex, Justin (even though some days she wishes she could hate him). She’s not much of a rational thinker, and emotion tends to drive her actions.

She loves lattes and good food, and she sort of hates authority. Inaction makes her crazy, and sometimes she rushes into things just so she doesn’t have to sit still. She’s fierce and powerful, but her heart is easily wounded, despite her tough shell.

All in all, Darlena is one of my favorite characters (even though I know I shouldn’t play favorites), and I can’t wait for y’all to meet her!
