(Fire & Flood #1)
Genres: YA, Dystopian, Sci-f
Published: February 25th, 2014
Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.

Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.

The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

ALICIA: Victoria, I am so thrilled to have you here today on Addicted Readers! :)

ALICIA: A question I have been dying to know since reading and LOVING Fire & Flood, is how did you come up with the unique plot and the overall brilliant idea for the Fire & Flood series?

VICTORIA: I had read a YA thriller that I loved, and wanted to try penning a book with that much action in it, especially after writing a paranormal series which relied more on romance. I also knew I wanted my next book to have animals in it. Those two thoughts combined helped spark the idea.

ALICIA: 2. The Pandora's were so unique and original! I mean I was amazed by them, and they really made Fire & Flood so unpredictable. Can you tell us what gave you the idea to interweave all the different animal traits into one animal, and second, how did that idea even come to be, and has it changed from the initial draft, if so, how?

VICTORIA: I love the X-men series, so the idea of creating an animal with numerous capabilities appealed to me. I’m happy to say the Pandoras didn’t change at all from the first draft to publication. Scholastic was as excited about them as I was.

ALICIA: 3. Fire & Flood seems like it would take a lot of thought, researcher, and planning, to work through the plot and find the even ground. So what was the most challenging part about writing Fire & Flood and what made it so challenging?

VICTORIA: The most challenging part was researching the ecosystems. Because I couldn’t actually go there, I had to rely a lot on primary and secondary research. I watched several Man vs. Wild clips and read articles on different animal and plant life in each ecosystem. It was hard, but rewarding.

ALICIA: Victoria, thank you so much for stopping by here today. I am steadily counting down the days until book 2 is released! Bring On More PANDORA'S!!!!! ;)

VICTORIA: Tella – I imagine Tella as being very similar to Tamara from Awkward, so I’d probably cast that actress. I love her quirkiness.

Tella as Jillian Rose Reed

ALICIA: She's cute for Tella. Though she's not what I picture when I see Tella. But not bad!

VICTORIA:  Guy- This one is easy. I’d cast Tyler Hoechlin (the guy from Teen Wolf).

Guy as Tyler Hoechlin

ALICIA: Pretty hot, huh? I thought the rugged, bloody sex-appeal look is just like Guy!
