The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan's chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she's destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.

ALICIA- Hi Ms Jordan, I am very excited to have you here on Addicted Readers today!

ALICIA- 1. First, I must say, a kill gene? Pure genius! How did that idea come to light?

JORDAN- I’ve always been intrigued with the nature vs. nurture argument … are killers born or made? Where does evil begin?

ALICIA-  2. After reading the blurb and some reviews of Uninvited, I've seen that these characters do not have it easy. Especially the people with the kill gene. Can you tell us what the kill gene is, and how it affects these peoples lives in Uninvited?

JORDAN- The “kill gene” is HTS: Homicidal Tendency Syndrome. The govt’ and scientists believe that can isolate the gene in people that make them capable of extreme violence. The USA has begun testing citizens at the time UNINVITED opens and Davy, my protag, is identified as positive for HTS. Her name goes into a national database so she can be monitored and she is forced into a special school for HTS carrier … and more stuff happens (really bad, tragic stuff……)but I don’t want to be spoilery! ;)

ALICIA-  3. Since discovering Uninvited many months ago, I've always wondered how does the title Uninvited fit in with the book?

JORDAN- Well, she is in essence “uninvited” from the idyllic life she leads when the book opens. The word comes up quite a lot in the book … that’s how I arrived at it.

ALICIA- 4.The cover of Uninvited is amazing! When I first seen it, I fell in love with it! Was it your idea to have the hair in the shape of genes, or how did that idea come up?

JORDAN- That was all Harper Teen! The art dept did an amazing job. They totally get the book … that Davy is just being broken done and judged based on her DNA and not the person inside – not who she really is.

ALICIA- 5. Can you tell us what's to come in the next and final book? Like what are some little things we can look forward to?

JORDAN- Oooooh. There are some big twists … and a new major character you can look forward to meet. Hint: his name is Caden.

ALICIA- 6. I've heard writing dystopian books are one of the hardest genres you can write. Do you feel that it was, or did you find it fairly easy to write?

JORDAN- For me this wasn’t dystopian. It’s still very much our world set in the near future on the very cusp of great change. It’s kind of pre-dystopian. ;) The research was the tricky part … I’m SO not a science girl! ;)

ALICIA- 7.Davy seems like an awesome character, but has been through a lot in her life. Can you tell us a little but about her and her struggles?

JORDAN- Imagine losing everything, even your very identity, in a blink. That’s what happens to her. There a great deal of denial on her part in the beginning because I felt this would be the natural response for anyone in her shoes. The entire book is about her struggle to find her “self”, to survive … to get to a place where she is safe and she is comfortable in her skin again. And, of course, there are several tangible, physical threats to her person, as well.

ALICIA- 8. Is their anything you would like to say to your fans and fans to come?

JORDAN- Just thanks for all your support and reader love! I hope you enjoy this new series!

ALICIA- Ms. Jordan, you are awesome, and I am so excited to finally read Uninvited and see what all the rave is about! Thank you so much for taking the time out to do this interview with me today on Addicted Readers.
