Teaser Tuesday #41: Cured By: Bethany Wiggins

Teaser Tuesday
is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB @ Should Be Reading, where you share one to two teasers from your current book. Sound like something your interested in?

Then do the following:

  • Grab your current read. Open to a random page
  •
Share 2 "Teaser" Sentences from somewhere on that page

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!
  •
  • Share the author & Title too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like your Teaser!

 Hey Guys,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend?

Mine was great! I spent it with my husband and 2 kids. We went to the movies to see FROZEN, which is one of the cutest Disney movies I've seen in a long time! I loved it! I'm sure buying it when it comes to DVD! I mean for my daughter, not for me! ;) (Shhhhh ;) Anyways, check out this weeks TT and let me know what you think in the comment section. Be sure to link me up to your TT or weekly memo so I can come visit you!

HAPPY READING! :-)

Here's My #41st Teaser Tuesday From CURED!

Published: March 4th, 2014
Genres: YA, Dystopian, Sci-f

Now that Fiona Tarsis and her twin brother, Jonah, are no longer beasts, they set out to find their mother, with the help of Bowen and a former neighbor, Jacqui. Heading for a safe settlement rumored to be in Wyoming, they plan to spread the cure along the way--until they are attacked by raiders. Luckily, they find a new ally in Kevin, who saves them and leads them to safety in his underground shelter. But the more they get to know Kevin, the more they suspect he has ties to the raiders. He also seems to know too many details about Jacqui and her family—details that could endanger them all. For the raiders will do anything they can to destroy the cure that would bring an end to their way of life.

Bethany Wiggins’s reimagining of our world after an environmental catastrophe won’t fail to stun readers.

NOTE:
Both Teasers are taken out of an eARC. Some quotes might change in the final copy!

Chapter: 25
Location on my tablet: (1993) 64%
"Wait!" Fo comes after me. "Where are you going?"

I take a deep breath and fight the urge to vomit. "To warn them."

"You can't go out there! You'll get caught or you'll die!"

I wipe the tears from my eyes. "Then I'll die trying, because I am sick of sitting around while everyone else fights!"

Chapter: 27
Location on my tablet: (2051) 66%
"For future reference," he says, "don't try to headbutt someone who is eight inches taller than you."

I twist in his arms and lunge, head bowed, ramming him in the stomach. He loses his footing and falls backward. His head crashes into the copper chandelier, and then somehow he grabs me and I am the one falling.

Bethany Wiggins has always been an avid reader, but not an avid student. Seriously! She failed ninth grade English because she read novels instead of doing her homework. In high school, she sat alone at lunch and read massive hardback fantasy novels (Tad Williams and Robert Jordan anyone?). It wasn't until the end of her senior year that the other students realized she was reading fiction--not the Bible

Once upon a time, Bethany's sister dared her to start writing an hour a day until she completed a novel. Bethany wrote a seven-hundred page fantasy novel that she wisely let no one read--but it taught her how to write. Since then she has penned SHIFTING (2011), STUNG (2013), and CURED (2014).
