My Weekly Reading Pile #3: The Winner's Curse & These Broken Stars

My Weekly Reading Pile is a feature over at Fiktshun that shows off the books that you are planning to read for that week! It is not a memo, but Rachel, the mind behind Fiktshun has graciously allowed me to use her brilliant idea here @ Addicted Readers!

So Thank you very much Rachel! :)

So every week (Or Almost Every Week) I will post what is in my weekly schedule of books to read for that week! Of course it could change, or the same book might be featured back to back if I wasn't able to get to it that week.

As a general's daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin's eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him 'with unexpected consequences. It's not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner's Curse is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

why i want to read it:

Oh, there is SO many reasons why I wanted to read THE WINNER'S CURSE, but here are just a few:

- Forbidden Love
-  Slave-fighting back
- A rich spoiled girl fighting for what SHE wants
- A romance so fresh and delicate that it sends chills up my spine
- A rebellion (Dystopian, my fave)
- Music so sweet that it could swoon the toughest of the tough

- One word: ARIN
- Two words: Sex-Appeal
- Three words: MUST HAVE ARIN! ;)

There is so many MORE reasons why I love this book! Yes, I am reading it now, and it is SO AMAZING, beyond AMAZING!!! I'm about halfway through, and I had to stop and Pre-Order me a finished copy! I'm reading a physical ARC, and since I am loving this book so much, I decided to give my ARC away to one lucky winner, so they can experience the joy and swonny-romance in this book as I am! My giveaway is running until March 4th, Enter HERE if you want to win a ARC! :)

So I know I will be able to at least start another book this week because I am almost done THE WINNER'S CURSE. So I have chosen to add another great book into my reading pile this week!

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)

These Broken Stars
Amie Kaufman & MeaganSpooner
(Starbound #1)
Published: December 10th, 2013
Genres: YA, Dystopian, Sci-f

It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

why i want to read it:

So I must be the ONLY person left on the face of the book-world that has NOT read THESE BROKEN STARS yet!!! Everyone who has read it, (And that's pretty much everyone) mostly loved it! And I've had it sitting on my shelve way before it was even released! And to make matters worse ... It was one of my "MUST READS" of 2013!!! So why haven't I read it yet? Who knows, because I've been dying to read it!

So I am determined to get to it and have it read by the end of next month! Yes, I'm still not sure if this is the book that I will decide to read when it comes time to put down THE WINNER'S CURSE for another book! But as of now, this is the one that I am striving to read next!!

SO Why do I want to read it....

Well, obviously it's in space, and I love books about space. It's a survival book, and I've heard the romance is great & refreshing! And there is just too many great reviews for this book to be anything but amazing! Not that I solely base my read on reviews, because honestly I never follow them. I just like to get an impression of what the majority thinks and what all the negativity is mostly about!!!

So as my March Goal, THESE BROKEN STARS...YOU ARE MINE!!!! ;)
