Rachel Vincent
(The Stars Never Rise #2)
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Release date: August 16, 2016
For fans of Cassandra Clare and Richelle Mead comes the unputdownable sequel to The Stars Never Rise, a book Rachel Caine, author of the bestselling Morganville Vampires series, called “haunting, unsettling, and eerily beautiful.”

ONE SPARK WILL RISE. Nina Kane was born to be an exorcist. And since uncovering the horrifying truth—that the war against demons is far from over—seventeen-year-old Nina and her pregnant younger sister, Mellie, have been on the run, incinerating the remains of the demon horde as they go.

In the badlands, Nina, Mellie, and Finn, the fugitive and rogue exorcist who saved her life, find allies in a group of freedom fighters. They also face a new threat: Pandemonia, a city full of demons. But this fresh new hell is the least of Nina’s worries. The well of souls ran dry more than a century ago, drained by the demons secretly living among humans, and without a donor soul, Mellie’s child will die within hours of its birth.
Nina isn’t about to let that happen . . . even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Check out just a few of the awesome quotes from THE STARS NEVER RISE! Feel free to grab and share them on your blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or other social media outlet using #TheFlameNeverDies!

Rachel Vincent
(The Stars Never Rise #1)
Release date: June 9, 2015
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Sixteen-year-old Nina Kane should be worrying about her immortal soul, but she's too busy trying to actually survive. Her town's population has been decimated by soul-consuming demons, and souls are in short supply. Watching over her younger sister, Mellie, and scraping together food and money are all that matters. The two of them are a family. They gave up on their deadbeat mom a long time ago.

When Nina discovers that Mellie is keeping a secret that threatens their very existence, she'll do anything to protect her. Because in New Temperance, sins are prosecuted as crimes by the brutal Church and its army of black-robed exorcists. And Mellie's sin has put her in serious trouble.

To keep them both alive, Nina will need to trust Finn, a fugitive with deep green eyes who has already saved her life once and who might just be an exorcist. But what kind of exorcist wears a hoodie?

Wanted by the Church and hunted by dark forces, Nina knows she can't survive on her own. She needs Finn and his group of rogue friends just as much as they need her.

Melinda Salisbury lives by the sea, somewhere in the south of England. As a child she genuinely thought Roald Dahl’s Matilda was her biography, in part helped by her grandfather often mistakenly calling her Matilda, and the local library having a pretty cavalier attitude to the books she borrowed. Sadly she never manifested telekinetic powers. She likes to travel, and have adventures. She also likes medieval castles, non-medieval aquariums, Richard III, and all things Scandinavian. The Sin Eater’s Daughter is her first novel, and will be published by Scholastic in 2015. She is represented by the amazing Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge and White.

She tweets. A lot.

From the author of the critically acclaimed Under a Painted Sky, an unforgettable story of determination set against a backdrop of devastating tragedy. Perfect for fans of Code Name Verity. San Francisco, 1906: Fifteen-year-old Mercy Wong is determined to break from the poverty in Chinatown, and an education at St. Clare's School for Girls is her best hope. Not to be undone by a bunch of spoiled heiresses, Mercy stands strong--until disaster strikes. On April 18, an historic earthquake rocks San Francisco, destroying Mercy's home and school. With martial law in effect, she is forced to wait with her classmates for their families in a temporary park encampment. Mercy can't sit by while they wait for the Army to bring help. Fires might rage, and the city may be in shambles, yet Mercy still has the 'bossy' cheeks that mark her as someone who gets things done. But what can one teenaged girl do to heal so many suffering in her broken city? Breakout author Stacey Lee masterfully crafts another remarkable novel set against a unique historical backdrop. On trial for a crime he did not commit, Fletcher must face the Inquisition who will decide his future - the process is gruelling, lead by those who will do anything to see him suffer and haunted by ghosts from the past with clues to Fletcher's tragic origins.

In the Summoner series, summoners must capture demons using portals between the demon world (the Ether) and their own. These demons become their familiars, and are also their owner’s source of mana (energy used for performing spells). Young summoners are trained at Vocans Academy, until they graduate as battlemages and become officers in the army, join the Celestial Corps (demon riding pilots) or join the Dragoons (demonic cavalry). Below are just a few of the demons that appear in The Inquisition, released on May 10th in North America.

Arach - Level 6 (Didric Cavell)

The Arach appears as an enormous spider, almost as large as a wild boar. Its eight dextrous legs are capable of skilful manipulation, allowing the demon to jump as high as ten feet and grasp its opponents by the face. The Arach has three powerful abilities. The first is the gossamer spell, shooting a luminescent web that puts one in mind of the silk of a glowworm - an adhesive that fades out of existence after a few hours. The second is the vicious sting that protrudes from its abdomen, the venom of which is capable of killing a grown man, if the impalement on the spike does not do the job first. Finally, rather like some breeds of tarantula, the Arach is capable of releasing the bristled hair from its back to float in the air, scourging their opponents’ skin and even blinding them. Only their summoners are immune to these bristles, as well as the Arach’s venom.

Caladrius - Level 7 (Atilla Thorsager)

Phoenix - Level 7

A large bird with red-orange plumage and long tail feathers like that of a peacock, the Phoenix is the rarest of the four elemental avian demons. High in mana and capable of breathing fire like a Salamander, these demons are said to inhabit the rims of active volcanoes in the ether.

Halcyon - Level 7

The Halcyon is thought to be the most common of the four elemental avians, with bright metallic feathers that make them shine brightly when they fly. With razor-sharp talons, high mana levels and the ability to fire lightning from their elongated tail feathers, their conspicuousness is their only disadvantage.

Polarion - Level 7
Polarions are believed to inhabit the clouds above the ether’s seas, using their ice ability to hunt any small demons foolish enough to leap out of the water. Rare sightings report the demon to be built much like a kingfisher, with blue-black plumage and a white belly. They are unusually high in mana and have the extremely rare ability to freeze their enemies, making them a fine addition to any summoner’s roster.

Alicorn - Level 8

A horse demon with swan-like wings and a single horn growing from the centre of its forehead. These equine demons are notoriously difficult to capture thanks to their speed both in the air and on land. The Alicorn herds migrate across Hominum’s part of the ether once each decade, and those that are slow enough to be captured tend to be the sick, injured or young.

Hippogriff - Level 8

The Hippogriff is a hybrid of eagle and horse. Though fast on the ground, it lacks the fierce claws of its more powerful and rarer cousin, the Griffin, relying on strikes from its beak and hooves. It is a popular choice of demon for members of the Celestial Corps, second only to the Peryton.

Nanaue - Level 9

This humanoid shark demon is a favourite among orc shamans thanks to its vicious jaws, sharp claws and impressive agility. With a posture more akin to a chimpanzee than a man, these demons are excellent climbers and are capable of jumping great distances. They come in the various breeds of their animal counterparts, with the great white, hammerhead and tiger shark being the most common.
